Chef's
Choice Model 610 Slicer: This
cheap yet powerful and reliable does not compromise on its quality
despite its lower pricing. The large capacity carriage allows it to
slice meat of extra large roasts, hams and other foods.
The
precision allows for slices as thin as deli-slices to as large as
1-thick slices. Its smooth and efficient design of having a cantilever
design and tilted food carriage allows for quick slicing. The Food
carriage also locks into position limiting access to the blade for
extra security.
"Bought
the Chefs Choice 610 food slicer, then saw the Waring FS150 (similar
but a Professional model with larger motor) for $30 less an hour later.
Bought that one also with intent to look up reviews online and decide
at home.
After
reading reviews (great reviews for Chefs Choice, awful reviews for the
Waring) and instruction manuals on both (still can't believe you can't
run the Waring for more than 10 minutes at a time and the poor design
for cleanup) decided to keep the Chefs Choice.
Used it to slice roast
beef, swiss cheese and baked turkey breast. Worked extremely well on
all and the unit is extremely easy to use. Cleanup took about 5 minutes
total. Unit is a little larger than I would have liked, but all the
food slicers have similar dimensions. Well worth the extra $30"

Continental PS77711
Professional Series Heavy Duty Food/Meat Slicer:
Another cheap option (cheaper than Chef's Choice 610 Slicer) has many
similar features: The tilt base allows for easy, commerical-style
slicing. It has a stainless steel food tray included and it has a
safety interlock switch to prevent accidental starting of blade. The
thickness control is also precise enough to allow for deli-slices or
large slices
"Home
Use DEFINITELY! Excellent
product for
the price.
Instruction
booklet/manual not very clear or too helpful.
Nearly
broke the blade retaining screw trying to remove the blade after the
first use - that's why the 4-stars and not 5 - need to remove screw by
turning it clockwise.
Slices
very thin perfectly - did some cheddar cheese, smoked ham, and roast
beef with no problems.
Used
machine constantly for 30 minutes first time and no "burnouts" or
burning smell from motor. Cleanup is easy - once you remember to
unscrew clockwise!
Definitely
for home use, not an industrial strength machine but well fabricated
and built." Review by P.
